There has been a spate of Hookah bars in the city of Jabalpur. Hookah bars have been banned in the state. However, Hookah bars have come up in many cities and are flouting all rules and guidelines. Often described as 'white death,' the smoke of Hookah is slowly becoming increasingly popular among the city's youngsters.

One has just to ping on Google, and you will get the latest details of prominent hookah bars in the city. The advertisements, however, talk about the joints as restaurants. However, the names of the restaurants give away the truth- Smoky Brew, Level 9 Hookah Lounge, Snookah Cafe & Restaurant, Vapor Café, Grand Tadka Restaurant, and Hookah Bar.

Hookah pot for Rs 500

A prominent daily, Dainik Bhaskar did a sting on different Hookah Bars in the city, and it came out with some truly disturbing facts. The Bars are run clandestinely and only known, and regular customers are given entry. When reporters of the daily tried to interview the owners of the hookah bars, most denied their very existence. 

However, the reporters were able to get answers from the workers of these hookah bars. The reporters were shocked when a restaurant in a posh location was ready to arrange a hookah pot for Rs 500. Most of the Hookah bars are located in posh colonies and are frequented by youngsters of affluent families.

Hookah was once the symbol of royalty and common among the Nawabs of the yesteryears. However, today Hookah is served in its incarnated form. A pot of Hookah is sold anywhere from Rs500 to Rs 1000. 

Tobacco is often laced with essence, which is said to be highly toxic and carcinogenic. Hookahs are also arranged by big hotels in Rave parties where alcohol and drugs are also supplied.
