Mumbai Records First Fatality From Delta Plus Mutation of Sars-CoV-2
According to a civic official, Mumbai recorded its first death related to the Delta Plus variant of coronavirus, with a 63-year-old fully vaccinated woman dying in July. At least two of her acquaintances have been identified afflicted with the Delta Plus strain, which is considered extremely infectious. The Delta Plus (AY.1) is a mutation of Sars-CoV-2 (B.1.617.2)'s highly transmissible Delta variant that was discovered in Maharashtra during the catastrophic second wave. It was labeled as a variation of concern by the union health ministry in June.
