A Kashmiri cab driver is being praised and felicitated for his honesty as he returned the bag of a tourist. The tourist was carrying cash and jewellery worth Rs. 10 lakh in the lost bag.
The driver, Tariq Ahmad from south Kashmir’s Shopian district, found the bag at tourist spot Aharbal in Shopian and returned it to its owner who turned out to be a tourist.

Tariq Returned The Belongings Untouched

Interestingly, Tariq also found three smartphones in the bag which were returned to the owner untouched.
As per reports, the cab driver waited for the call of the owner on one of the phones that were in the bag. Consequently, he managed to find the owner and provided him with the lost belongings.

One of the members of the drivers’ association, that Tariq is a part of, says, “Tariq is a really great man. He did this out of his own goodness without expecting any rewards.”

Tariq – A Role Model For Kashmir Tourism

Tourism players in the Valley also hailed the driver’s honesty and said that the driver should be a role model for everyone else who wants to make all Kashmiris proud.
Pertinently, a young Kashmiri tour guide, named Rouf Ahmad Dar, died saving a Calcutta couple and three other tourists from drowning last month on a Friday afternoon, prompting him to be hailed as a hero and an exemplar of the great tradition of Kashmiri hospitality.
Rouf, aged in his 20s, was on a raft negotiating Pahalgam’s Lidder stream when gusty winds caused it to capsize.
