Health officials scramble to trace missing woman after alert from Delhi
As the world goes into a panic mode with the emergence of a new COVID variant, the crisis hits closer at home. A woman who arrived from South Africa via Delhi to Jabalpur has vanished and all efforts to trace the missing person have not succeeded till the time this news goes to press.
The world has seen the Delta variant of Corona wreaking havoc and it is now bracing for the unknown impacts of the latest variant – Omicron. Flights are being cancelled and a close watch is being kept on travellers arriving from South Africa and Botswana where the new variant was first detected.

A woman who travelled from Botswana to Jabalpur via New Delhi has gone missing and authorities are trying to trace her whereabouts. Health authorities in New Delhi have been tracing all the passengers who have entered India via Africa.
In the process, they are tracing the woman named Ms Orimetse Lin Khomo who arrived from Botswana. Authorities are looking for the woman in the adjoining districts of Jabalpur and tourist hotspots like Khajuraho and Kanha Kisli National Park which see a flood of tourists in this season.

When a correspondent contacted the District Covid Sampling official, Dr. Priyank Dubey, he informed that the 35-year-old woman arrived at the Dumna Airport 18 days ago. However, it is not clear if she has left or is still in the city. The details of the woman have been shared on the social media and all the district police headquarters have been alerted.
Collector Jabalpur, Karmvir Sharma has asked all officials to be on alert and see that the COVID protocols are adhered to. New guidelines have been issued after the emergence of the new variant and all schools have been instructed to be run with 50% capacity. The half-yearly exams which were to start today will now be taken in two shifts with 50% capacity.
