As the denizens of the national capital splutter and wheezes, the climate change conference in Glasgow has also ended without any tangible action plan. Indian Prime Minister made a pledge that India will become Zero Carbon emission by 2070. However, it needs to be seen if the Indian population is ready to make subtle changes in their lifestyles?

We have seen how the public reacted to the COVID-19 lockdown. When the government made it mandatory for people to wear masks, maintain social distancing, and take vaccines, it was met with resistance from the public. The measures were for their own safety; still, the government had to employ massive forces to ensure that the lockdown protocols are followed.

However, the COP26 conference in Glasgow was majorly attended by people born between 1997 and 2012 who make up about 2.5 billion people. This age group has finally realized that the time to be ignorant about climate change is long past and if they do not take emergency measures, the Earth will become so hot that it will be impossible for the existence of Homo Sapiens.

What is astonishing is that there is still a big gap between the measures which climatologists are suggesting and the stand of the politicians and the corporate world. One thing is very clear; no government will stop using fossil fuels unless there is an alternative cleaner fuel in massive quantities.

Energy is an issue that is gargantuan in proportion and cannot be wished away. The need for change is inevitable. Mankind has to immediately stop using bad fossil fuels and switch to less harmful Natural Gas, Atomic Energy, Solar Energy, Wind Energy and Ocean thermal energy. Mankind will have to make the final switch to energy sources that are still not known like fusion energy and obtaining energy from the native star Sun.

Mankind has a tendency for self-destruction. Any process of life has a time period and in the end, the elements of this life process self destruct themselves. Mankind is also going through this mode. From the very start of civilization, human activity has steadily made its own life difficult. The last fifty years have seen industrialization on an apocalyptic scale. The effects of human greed are manifesting themselves in massive floods, famine, wildfires, water scarcity and other such calamities and the intensity of these calamities is becoming more and more acute.

Mankind is in a self destruct mode and all the Climate Conference in Rio, Paris and now Glasgow is about how to extend the date of the final apocalypse. Homo Sapiens is going to become extinct in the coming centuries
