Third-gen army personnel Sepoy Karanvir Singh martyred in encounter in Kashmir

Sepoy Karanvir Singh's father Ravi Kumar retired as Subhedar Major from 22- Rajput Regiment.

Another son of the state of Madhya Pradesh, Sepoy Karanvir Singh laid his life for the nation. Karanvir was a member of the team which was involved in an encounter with ultras in Shopian District. Two terrorists were killed in the operation while the Army suffered one casualty, Sepoy Karanvir Singh from Satna district of Madhya Pradesh.

Karanvir Singh was a native of Rampur Baghelan village which comes under the Satna district. The 24-year-old warrior had killed one of the terrorists before succumbing to his bullet injuries. Karanvir Singh was a member of the 21 Rajput 44 Regiment and was posted with his unit in Shopian. Karanvir's father and grandfather have both served in the Indian Army. His father Ravi Kumar had retired as Subhedar Major from the 22 Rajput Regiment in 2017.

Karanvir Singh joined the army four years back and it was his birthday on this ill-fated day. His father said that he is proud to have a son who has laid his life for his nation. According to Satna SP, the warrior’s last rites will be conducted in his village of Rampur Baghelan. His body will be airlifted from Srinagar to Satna on 21 October after military honours.

While Karanvir’s father true to his military etiquette stoically took to the devastating news, his mother is inconsolable and more because it was her son’s birthday. Grandfather Surya Pratap Singh and Grandmother Lilawati are proud of their grandson who bravely fought the terrorists and laid his life in the service of Mother India.

It is also a coincidence that in the year, Ravi Kumar retired as Subhedar Major from the 22 Rajput Regiment, the same year Karanvir joined 22 Rajput as a Jawan. Karanvir had updated his Facebook status with the message-“I miss You friends” on 20 February. Karanvir was also a big fan of Sri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and had tagged his photo with a message - 'Aap Bahut Yaad Ayenge' (You will always be remembered).
