A government college’s official website has been hosting dozens of webpages with the content about online casinos, silently making its students susceptible to fall for the online gambling.

In what looks to be a very strange and shocking act, a Government Degree College Sopore in northern Kashmir has been naively promoting online gambling through its official website.

The college has been hosting dozens of web pages on its official website with online gambling content.

“Website being upgraded on a daily basis,” the college claims

In the About section of its website, the college claims that its website has been launched recently and is being upgraded on daily basis.

However, the college seems to have concentrated on the content like the notifications and other information only while forgetting to ask the developers to look after the website’s health.

Online gambling content makes students susceptible

Although the website doesn’t link to the gambling content through its homepage, the presence of such content can easily be verified by making a search through Google.Com with the keyword “Casino GDC Sopore”.

Google Search showing casino content on college website

The following web addresses on the college’s official website are among dozens of web pages that host the online gambling content:

https://gdcsopore.ac.in/general-notices/casino-work-gambling/https://gdcsopore.ac.in/general-notices/long-beach-wa-casino/https://gdcsopore.ac.in/general-notices/the-best-online-games-casino/

The naïve promotion of such content through a college website is very bizarre and irresponsible on the part of the college authorities.

Students can easily fall for online gambling if they find it on their college’s official website.

Website developed by an inept private firm

Given the website is developed by a Srinagar-based private firm as per the information displayed in the footer section, it is ironic to witness the developer’s own website being spammy and insecure without an SSL certificate.

For every click on the developer’s website, the users are served spammy content in new tabs.

Considering the inept private firm’s website, it really needs to be questioned as to how the college administration gave them such an important website project.

College officials blame the website developer

When contacted, the college’s website administrator Mr Imran spoke to Digpu News and blamed the developer.

He said, “We have been updating the website by uploading the latest notifications and related information. The website developer is the one who is responsible for maintaining it.”

As per Mr Imran, the college administration will get in touch with the developer to rectify the same.
