Digitalisation to bring technology start-ups, entrepreneurs, SMEs on one platform

Digitalisation is inevitable for the progress and growth of SMEs, feels Kerala Startup Mission

The Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) is all set to launch a project to support digitization of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) by connecting them to technology startups that have developed cost-effective solutions to meet their needs. Kerala Startup Mission is the nodal agency of the Kerala government for entrepreneurship development and incubation activities in the state.

The project also aims at bringing technology start-ups entrepreneurs, tech-savvy industrialists and SMEs on a one-stop platform.

The project will be inaugurated at Uralungal Cyberpark (UL Cyberpark), Kozhikode, in the second week of March. As part of the project, KSUM will be organising a Startup-SME Conclave on the sidelines of the inaugural event.

Connecting start-ups with SMEs

John M Thomas, CEO, Kerala Startup Mission, said the KSUM is extending a helping hand to SMEs through the project. “Digitalisation is inevitable for the progress and growth of SMEs. Through the project, Kerala Startup Mission lends a helping hand to the Small and Medium Enterprises to afford technology without causing huge financial liability during its implementation. It gives immense scope for startups that correctly realise the requirement of industries and deliver products/services at the right time,” Thomas said.

“There are many startups in our ecosystem that offer innovative services and products to Small and Medium Enterprises in Kerala and outside. This project will connect start-ups with the enterprises looking for viable and cost-effective solutions,” he said.

Startup-SME Conclave soon

The Startup-SME Conclave will feature an exhibition of products and services developed by startups exclusively for the SME sector. Technology experts in the SME sector will lead sessions at the conclave, where industrialists, who have effectively implemented digitalisation in the Small and Medium Enterprises sector, will share their experience.

Startups providing services or technology products that enable the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises can take part in the expo. Selected startups will get opportunities to interact with industrialists and industry body representatives.
