India women's cricket team has ended Australia's world-record of 26 consecutive ODIs win with a nervous two-wicket win in the third and final ODI
India women's cricket team has defeated Australia in the third and final ODI with two wickets to end Meg Lanning and her yellow brigade’s 26- consecutive ODI winning streak.
Opting to bat first, Australia scored 264 runs for the loss of nine wickets on the back of two half-centuries by Beth Mooney (52) and Ashleigh Gardner (67).
Chasing 265 for victory, maiden fifties by Shafali Varma and Yastika Bhatia, and twin cameos of Sneh Rana and Deepti Sharma in the middle overs guided the visitors to the victory after the India women's team lost two quick wickets in the middle overs.
Sneh Rana’s winning cameo of 30 runs
Rana who replaced Poonam Yadav shifted the balance towards women in blue. With Deepti Sharma supporting her from the other end, the India women's cricket team managed to earn a consolidated win after throwing themselves to Lenning and the team in the middle overs.
The women in blue set the theme right with Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma’s 59-run opening wicket partnership. It was then carried forward with Verma and Yastika Bhatia's fantastic knock, pushing India to the winner's stand.
However, the surprise-laden Australian team tilted the win in their favour with quick wickets of Richa Ghosh and Verma. But a crucial knock of 30 runs of 25 balls by Rana had saved the day for the blues. Sneh Rana’s three consecutive fours in an over had turned the fate of the Indian team. The ease at which the shots were pulled off matched her must-talked batting class. She also took one wicket.

Evergreen Jhulan Goswami in India Women's Cricket Team
Goswami’s stellar performance with the new ball has always been the talk of the town. This time too it wasn't any different. Jhulan Goswami’s 3 for 37 runs have helped immensely to restrict Australia to 265 runs after fielding duped Indian hopes yet again.
The evergreen player also scored the winning run in the last over to guide India to a two-wicket victory and end the Australia Women's Cricket Team world record of consecutively winning 26 ODIs.
After the last ODI near win-loss of India and the trend of the team losing confidence in the upcoming matches was put to rest by India women's cricket team in blues. Goswami had spearheaded India's bowling attack single-handedly.
It is painful to see a loopy-droopy bowling performance by the Indian team throughout the year. There is no one to partner Jhulan with the new ball, forcing fans to miss Amita Sharma. Even in this particular match, the bowling suffered. It suffered even more due to extremely poor Indian fielding.
But on a good note, India managed to seal a win, albeit nervously.
