Free education with Rs 3000 monthly assistance for orphans in Uttarakhand

“Our government is helping orphans in every happiness and sorrow by becoming the guardian of the orphan children,” Mr Pushkar Singh, the Uttarakhand chief minister said.



NEW DELHI — Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, on Wednesday said that his government was going to take full responsibility of children orphaned due to the pandemic of COVID-19 in the state.



Under the Vatsalya scheme, the chief minister said all such orphan children would be given a monthly assistance of Rs 3000. Besides, their education would be ensured free till the age of 21.



“Our government is helping orphans in every happiness and sorrow by becoming the guardian of the orphan children,” Mr Pushkar Singh said, adding, “Under the Vatsalya scheme, along with taking full responsibility of the children orphaned by Covid, Rs 3,000 will be given to the guardian every month. Also, orphan children will get free education till the age of 21.”

He added that many important decisions have been taken by the Uttarakhand government for the military families and the dependents of the martyrs as well.



“In this sequence, a hostel is being constructed in Haldwani for the education of the children of soldiers and ex-servicemen,” he informed.

The Uttarakhand chief minister also met a delegation of farmers of Bajpur, who called on the CM under the leadership of MLA Harbhajan Singh Cheema.
