Assam-Mizoram Dispute: Hope for an amicable solution with Centre’s help, says Zoramthanga

NEW DELHI — Zoramthanga, the chief minister of Mizoram, on Wednesday said that he hoped for an ‘amicable’ solution for the inter-state border dispute between Assam and Mizoram.



The chief minister also requested for calming down the situation ‘in this time of great difficulty’.



“I sincerely request all to stay calm and promote peace in this time of great difficulty,” Zoramthanga tweeted, adding, “Mizoram hopes for an amicable solution with the intervention from the Central government.”



He also tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah in the tweet on his official handle.

The CM Zoramthanga is currently quarantined as per COVID-19 SOP after found in contact of a positive person.



“This has affected the normal working of his office to a certain extent. Meetings requiring the CM’s presence or personal contact as well as interviews may be put on hold for the time being,” the Chief Minister’s Office informed.



Earlier, the chief minister through a tweet announced that all expenses on the treatment of Lalmuansanga, a resident of Vairengte Venhlun, who suffered grievous bullet wound fired by Assam Police would be borne by the state government.

The injured is currently undergoing treatment at Kolasib Civil Hospital, where utmost medical care available is given to him, according to the chief minister.
