Goshak, Matrangal join hands to empower women in their entrepreneurial journey
Ghoshak, Matrangal come together to hand-hold women entrepreneurs towards path to success

In its constant endeavour to empower and extend support to budding women entrepreneurs from various walks of life, Ghoshak, an organisation that empowers small and medium businesses (SMBs) across India, has joined hands with Matrangal, a Chennai-based platform that works towards exclusively helping women entrepreneurs to create a brand identity through the promotion and generation of business by way of empowering each other.

The Ghoshak-Matrangal partnership came into effect on March 8,2022, International Women’s Day, at an event which had Ma. Subramanian, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, addressing women entrepreneurs. The event was attended by Karunanithi J, MLA, T-Nagar; Mylai T Velu, MLA, Mylapore; Sai Dhanshika, film actress; and Akshara Reddy, Miss Super Globe - World 2019, and actress-model.

In tune with the way technology has been penetrating every sphere of life, Chennai-based Ghoshak has enabled more than 15,000 small and medium sized businesses in India. From creating an online store, booking appointments, digital payments, inventory management, and offering discounts, Ghoshak’s plug-and-play technology solutions enable shop owners to sell from anywhere and everywhere. Saas-based startup Goshak was founded by Rajesh Subramanian in 2020.

Ghoshak-Matrangal to help women-led businesses grow

The association between Ghoshak and Matrangal has been envisaged as a space for established as well as budding women entrepreneurs to showcase their products and talents, and to help them through other activities. Aimed at uplifting women-led small scale businesses by create a sourcing network for them, helping towards their welfare and also the welfare of their children, offering support in their educational needs and also hand holding them to be actively involved in environmental activities as a public responsibility, the Ghoshak-Matrangal association would look at helping women entrepreneurs to stand on their feet.

Riding the ‘Gender Equality for a Sustainable Tomorrow’ theme of International Women’s Day 2022, Ghoshak’s association with Matrangal comes across as major step towards creating equal opportunities for women sans any gender bias, while helping them reach out to more customers and expand their business.

Aptly named Matrangal, which means ‘Change’ in Tamil, the platform paves the way for women entrepreneurs so that they successfully create a brand identity through promoting and generating business by empowering each other. Matrangal, an initiative by Suchitra Unni who started her career as a child artist in a Malayalam movie and later played a lead character in a Tamil movie, has helped more than 60 women artisans grow their small businesses like pottery making, weaving, candle making, gift bags, homemade and baked food items and more.

Ensuring support to all women out there

Suchitra Unni, who had always wanted to work towards women's empowerment in India, had started Matrangal after a successful stint in Dubai with a private firm.  Matrangal currently lends a helping hand to women to grow their businesses. “Growing up under the influence of powerful women, I have learned how easily they can multitask and handle complexities. Women in our country are creative with a higher EQ and the ability to grow ten folds. With the help of Ghoshak’s technology, we aim to ensure support to every woman out there, especially the less privileged ones, who has dreamt of building a future for herself and her family,” Suchitra Unni said.

Ghoshak supports a bouquet of small businesses like organic products, mobile & accessories shops, parlours, tailoring and boutique shops, among others. With pricing that is easy on everyone’s pocket, it is now all set to enable women out there to spread their wings and embark on a technology-led entrepreneurial journey.
