World Happiness Report 2021: India far behind Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan

The World Happiness Report 2021 shows how India is in no position to smile. It is inching closer to Taliban-ruled Afghanistan and is far behind all its neighbouring countries. The 10th edition of the World Happiness Report was released on the 18th March 2022 by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network. The report contains the national happiness trends over the year 2019-2021. These trends are explored based on a deep analysis of various factors such as perceptions of corruption, social support, healthy life expectations, generosity, GDP per capita, freedom of choice among others. The principal source of data for the World Happiness Report is the Gallup World Poll, which is a comprehensive and factual survey of the world. The Gallup World Poll takes between 1000 -2000 responses from each country. The results of life evaluations are based on what is called the Cantril Ladder (1) or the Cantril Self-Anchoring Scale. Swami Kral Bab's birth anniversary celebrated in Kashmir's Venkur ashram after 32 years

Followers from all over the country visited the Ashram at Venkur, Baramulla in Kashmir to celebrate Swami Kral Bab's birth anniversary. Swami Kral Bab was born in 1928 on Phagun Purnima, also celebrated as the day of Holi/Holika Dehan. He established his first Ashram at Venkur, Baramulla and gained followers soon after. Natives say that he brought spiritual repute and prosperity to the place. Today, several generations of Kashmiri Pandit families living all over the world are devotees of the saint. Born in a simple family in Kashmir, Swami Kral Bab's original name was Bhagwan Dass in Kralgund village of Kupwara, Kashmir. He had a spiritual inclination since a very young age. He was the disciple of Swami Nand Lal Ji, who is also a revered figure for Kashmiri Pandits. He was renamed 'Kral Bab' by his guru. Karnataka denies another chance for students who skipped exams on account of Hijab row The Hijab row in Karnataka is spilling over, after an interim order of the Karnataka High Court banning hijab and saffron shawls in colleges where uniform is prescribed. Many Muslim students, who had boycotted classes and exams across the state’s schools, have been left stranded following state Education Minister BC Nagesh stating that the government would not conduct re-exams for the absentees. With the Education Minister reiterating that the state cannot re-organise board examinations, students who missed the exams owing to the row are now left high and dry. The Minister has been quoted saying that “whatever the reason for the student absenting himself or herself during the exams, this year would be no different. The Assembly polls are over, but the battle between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) continues with the same vigour as the state Legislative Council polls scheduled for April 9 is in the pipeline. The BJP, with its thumbing win in UP, is looking at an easy cakewalk, while the SP wants to make it look like the party won’t give in anymore. As many as 36 vacant seats will be going to the polls in the 100-member council for the Vidhan Parishad, which is considered the upper House of the state’s legislature. The elections are a biennial affair and the Vidhan Parishad witnesses a third of its members retiring every two years.
