OMG 2 set to bring Lord Shiva on the big screen; Akshay fans chant Har Har Mahadev

In tune with the trend of making mythical tales on the silver screen, a sequel to the hugely appreciated OMG (Oh My God), is set for arrival. The Akshay Kumar-Paresh Rawal starrer OMG was a hit as it retold the story of Krishna in modern times. Now lead actor Akshay has triggered added interest in its sequel titled OMG 2 by unveiling a poster of the film in which he plays Shiva.

Soon after Akshay showed off the poster, lead actress Yami Gautam also hit her social media space with the poster. The film also has ace actor Pankaj Tripathi playing a significant role.

OMG 2 in theatres on August 11

The unveiling of the poster comes a few weeks after Akshay had revealed about his visit to Badrinath. It looks like the film has been majorly shot in Badrinath.

Going by the poster, OMG 2 is sure to arrive in theatres on August 11 this year. Considering that the date is not so far away, the interest 9n the film has grown manifold. The anticipation has come to the fore through the comments made under Akshay’s post that revealed the poster.

The actor had written: "Aa rahe hain hum, aaiyega aap bhi”, and to this fans of the actor have filled the comment space with chants of “Har Har Mahadev”. Many of them have even stamped the film to be probable blockbuster from Akshay.

Akshay looks unrecognisable as he appears as Lord Shiva in dreadlocks and ash smeared all over his face. If you would remember, the actor had shown off the first look back in 2021. The film’s release was however delayed due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent measures the government had undertaken to quell the spread of the virus. Now that the scenario has changed for the better, it looks like the August 11 release date has been locked for sure.

Two sequels to release around same time

Significant is the fact OMG 2 could bring to the fore serious issues that are currently being discussed and debated among the Indian population. Akshay had even stated in his earlier post in 2021 that the film would deal with an important social issue.

OMG 2, however, will have to face stiff competition from another sequel whose first part was a runaway hit. OMG 2 will vie for the honours with Gadar 2: The Katha Continues, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel. The film is a sequel to the 2001 flick Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, which was well applauded then.
